Pam's Favorite Spot

Click Here to Buy (12x24in. - $1000 - click to see larger version)

This is one of the few I had leftover from my gallery show earlier this year. I really like it. The gal is Pam, my friend who moved away to Tucson. : ( Before she left she posed for me around her house and I've painted several from that day. You might remember this other one (sold) -->

I threw together a few school supplies while my little guy was off learning (all his except for the shoes). They grow up so fast!

Foreign Exchange Students

Here are some folks I spotted in San Francisco, huddled together, looking up English phrases. Or at least that's what I imagined they were doing. My sister spent her junior year in high school in Germany. I thought it was quite an adventure, but didn't want to learn another language (which is funny now that I'm learning German), so I spent my own junior year in Seattle, (coming from a small town in Texas) living with some friends of the family. It was quite a year. Quite the learning experience.

Pam Reading

sold

I've been wanting to paint more people, and while I enjoy the candid shots I get out in public, I'm never entirely happy with the poses. So I had the bright idea of hijacking one of my friends and making them pose for me. Pam graciously agreed. We spent several hours in her beautiful house, taking hundreds of photos (because who has time to pose while I paint?!). And let me tell you, I got some great ones! Not only that but she also agreed to let me paint any of her 9 grandchildren - wahoo! So here's my first one of Pam. There will be more.

Hooded Reader

sold

This is a fellow I spotted in San Francisco last year. He reminds me of that Coldplay song, Yellow.

Good news - we were able to get my son's passport renewed in one day! And the bonus was we got to wander around downtown Seattle for an afternoon while we waited - my old stomping grounds from high school - looks totally different after 20 years (wow, has it been that long?!)!

Gripping

sold

This is another one from NYC - in Bryant Park, which is behind the library. I got her proportions wrong the first 4 times, but you know what they say - 5th time's a charm!

Tea For Me

Lucy: terrier/poodle mix, 2 yrs old, 10 lbs.
sold

I apologize for the lack of posting. I have been spending some extra quality time with my family (and our new dog, Lucy!) these past couple of weeks. Meanwhile December has passed in a flash, and now it's almost Christmas! Crazy. This painting is the second in my tea series - tea for me. I used my glasses and the book I just finished (a Longmire mystery).

Last Minute Cramming

sold

I did a fair amount of this in my day - cramming. I hope this gal's memory has more long-term stamina than mine - honestly I can't remember anything that I ever crammed for!

Can't Put it Down

sold

This is another gal from San Francisco, this one on her lunch break, sneaking in a good book. She keeps looking at her watch, dreading giving up her book because it's at a pivotal moment and she simply has to find out if Claire forgives Jonathon!

Where Are My Glasses?

I found these cool old glasses at a Flea Market in Germany. My brother-in-law was with me at the time and I'm sure he thought I was crazy buying glasses I couldn't "use" but maybe this will reassure him.

"Afternoon Light" & second book! - SOLD

Above is another painting from Lost Maples last week. I was standing in a small field in late afternoon with just one shaft of light shining across some of the grass. It was such a neat effect and I painted furiously to capture it. This is my favorite painting from the week.

AND, I am happy to announce the completion of my second book - 100 Small Paintings, Volume 2!!! I used Blurb again so you can go directly there to see a preview of the entire book and/or order one for yourself.

"Spicy Reading" - SOLD

First of all, I'd like to mention that a couple of spots have opened up for my advanced workshop in Jacksonville, FL next month, Oct 18-22. Click link to see class description.

Second, a few pictures from my recent workshop in Rhode Island:

The workshop was in Kelley MacDonald's very cool studio in Warren, RI. We laughed, we cried, we drank ... and hopefully they still managed to learn something. Ahh, these kids. It was a fun bunch.
