Today I was searching back through my old posts and found this really great quote by Steve Martin. It was great to read it again so I thought I'd repost it: "Consistent work enhanced my act. I learned a lesson: it was easy to be great. Every entertainer has a night when everything is clicking. These nights are accidental and statistical: like lucky cards in poker, you can count on them occuring over time. What was hard was to be good, consistently good, night after night, no matter what the circumstances." Same with painting.
carol...i lov ths.....
Interesting. I just finished looking over your postings back through 2006 also. One can almost sense the mood over a period of postings and then a quick turn shows up and the mood changes again. It's a good thing I have a lot of time on my hands; I have been studying the painting "Upper Field", which I now hold in my hands, for hours, days and I'm mesmerized by it's beauty. The more I look at it the more pleasure it brings. You are consistently good. Your work never lets me down. jb
hi..the still life is awwesomee as usual! but i liked the quote too.
Great Painting and Powerful quote!
Your style just does not compare to anything I have seen so far.I love it.
As funny and goofy as he is, Steve Martin is quite brilliant with awards and accolades in music, writing, and theater. Not just "a wild and crazy guy".
And Carol, you meet and surpass the consistently good, day after day. Thanks for sharing all that you do!
I love this painting and I loved reading the Steve Martin quote. He's really one to offer insight into art, too.
Did you read about his interview at the 92nd Street Y this week, though? He was discussing art in big conceptual terms and the audience was bored so the Y interrupted the interview and asked them to, in essence, engage the audience more. Then the Y gave everyone a credit for their admission cost. Crazy, huh?
Love your whites! I'm still working on that! Great painting and great quote and so true! As you have said it takes practice, practice, practice. Obviously, you've done your work and continue to do so.
Wow you really framed that yellow/orange well!
