"Gather Around" - SOLD

Ok, apparently I'm channeling all my "grief" over school into my paintings. This could be the teacher and all the wee ones participating in storytime. The small one is my Jacob. : )

Amazing how people tell you this will be a flash in your life.... my baby just finished her first week of college. I still remember her first week of kindergarten.

This is so touching... I remember that little back walking a half block to the bus stop :) Love your work, always!

You could teach Mr. Ramos a thing or two about color! Keep pushing the envelope...

It'll always be varying degress of letting go..I'm still learning that! It makes for emotionally powerful paintings. Love this one! Tess

'Jacob' looks to be the most attentive in the group - you should be proud! It's a great painting - love the colors -

Carol, As someone who teaches art in an elementary school, I can tell you that I really love my kindergarten artists. My advice to you is "Volunteer for everything, make yourself known to Jacob's art teacher, and get into his school as much as possible.". Even tho Ms. Ramos is important, no one is an important as Mom and Dad. He will be thrilled to see you come in the door! (and it is ok to be grieving--all the moms and dads are experiencing the same emotion!).

My boys are now 21 and 23 y/o and my adopted little girl is 5, when we brought her home from China she was 20 months. Six months later she began preprekinder so she can learn our language faster. I felt soooooo sad and guilty but, for our surprise, she was soooooooo happy!!! Now she is in kinder and still loves school. Enjoy every second of Jacob's journey, it will go fast. Love your paintings!!! Will see you at your workshop in Jacksonville

Ha ha! in some ways it does go so fast. I remember the 'grief' mixed w/ pride as each of ours got on the bus to go to their 1st day of school..Our last one out of 4 is just 2 years away from being out the door to college. This makes me think of a photo I saw of you and your baby when he was brand new(maybe on your website?)
It is one of the sweetest mother and child photos I've ever seen. I was tempted to paint it. Maybe I will!
