Merry Christmas Carol. I had the itch to paint Christmas ornaments as well. Quite a festive way to celebrate. Love these and hope you and your family have a joyous celebration of the holidays. Thank you for all the inspiration you me and many others during 2009.
Too late, I've eaten so many gingerbread men that I feel like that little blue ornament, rolling around. Love the painting, great composition, and you continually amaze me with your straight brush strokes on round objects.
I'd like to see your palette in the middle of a painting and then right after you've finished the painting. You know, like you give us a link to see your studio in progress. Or, maybe you could just explain, for instance, what colors you mixed for that deep blue ornament and the purple one. Also, do you use titanium white for highlights? I love how deep your shadows appear and the depth you get even in the casual application of paint over the underpainting.
For Leo, and others; I always go for the pictures on this blog BUT in the menu sidebar at right you've got a link that takes you to Carol's website and the FAQ (that's a 'Q', Filbert!) sections are full of info, including her simplified palette. Just so you guys know....
"I" regularly check out your site... and am never disappointed.. when I find "You" shufflin' the deck... but always your confident edgy brushwork magically ties in that "new" idea or direction!

Filbertina, I was going to ask you if you ever paint ornaments. I want a Jag the color of the front ornament pleeeeeze!
I was daydreaming of a Blurb calendar you could do of 12 holiday still-lifes; not that you're busy or anything.
Oh no, too late regarding cookies!!! Merry Christmas
My plan is to eat lots and lots of cookies, lol. Merry Christmas Carol.
Merry christmas, Carol. Have a wonderful time! (I love this painting, festive yet nostalgic...)
Carolina
Yes, Carol, the eating of the cookies is the REWARD for the craziness of getting ready for the holiday!!! ;0
I love this. I love the rich colors of the balls.
Have a Merry Christmas, Carol!
Santa ate my cookies. Will you please send me some more? And that Jag would be a nice touch to store them in! :-)
Merry Christmas. Enjoyed looking at your studio blog. My wife & I built my studio last year and I LOVE IT!
