I won't say I've figured out folds, but I have figured out why they're so gal-darn difficult to paint. Well, especially white cloth. It's because they have such subtle shifts of color and value. This part over here is a light orange grey, and this part over here is slightly darker and bluer. But just SLIGHTLY. And these subtle shifts are really hard to capture accurately. Not that I'm making excuses ... I swear! : )
Some of you asked about places to get floater frames after my frame post yesterday. I've never used them, but I've heard really great things about www.metroframe.com. They even have frames for panels (vs. canvas).

I fall in love with your paintings over and over again. And then I am always shocked to remember they are so small--they have such a big feel in the way you capture things. No fussy details--just very well stated. So wonderful.

I agree, painting white fabric is tough, you do a great job though, as always.
Not to plug a specific framer but I always use frankenframes.com for my floater frames, they have a nice selection at decent prices and really great service.

I keep going back and forth between the pair of pear paintings. I like this one better and trying to validate that I compare them again and again. I conclude that there are different views of pears in the newer work.

This one is definitely the most you version of white cloth...love it!
Carol - lovely folds - admittedly, I'd be the first to smooth that fabric right out!!! Good challenge and nice outcome.
