More fun with ribbon. I realize I might have sounded a little cocky in yesterday's post - I hope everyone understands it was completely tongue in cheek. Ribbon is one of the most challenging things I've painted yet. I was kicking myself for the complexity of the setup, but I was also really happy with the result. I'm pretty darn pleased with this one too. My proudest moment is where the ribbon reflects in the white side (front) of the cup.

This knocks my socks off--it is so, so beautiful. I, too, love the reflection in the cup, so subtle and so well painted.
And well you should be, it is great and yesterday's was too! You did not sound cocky.....I for one love your comments, as well as your paintings! You are so open and generous.
Love the reflection!
Cocky? Never, Carol! You would absolutely LOVE Australia, where EVERYTHING is said tongue-in-cheek - it's our way of surviving in a harsh, isolated land! LOL Love the ribbon by the way - have to try some myself :-)
Beautiful and amazing. This is so inspiring. Now I can finish the pink high heels, which I started in Sedonna. I was disgusted with the darks on the shoes, making them look dirty. The pinks on your ribbon are delicate and pure.
You told us in class that no one ever looks as a painting and says, "Nice reflected light." However, your reflected lights in your paintings is what first stood out to me and made me so want to take one of your workshops.
Thanks for all that you do.
The ribbon looks absolutely real. I love the way your mind works in thinking up your compositions.
SO pretty in Pink! And right next to you 'proudest moment' is almost a heart-shape - ties right in with the pink...
This is lovely Carol, I think a lot of painters have a particular part of their painting they love, I know I do.cerc
This is really beautiful. I love how the shadow intertwines with the ribbon. I bet it is hard to paint! BTW you do not sound cocky! Mais très simpathique.
I like the opaque hues on the light areas of the ribbon versus the glazing on the ribbon in shadow. Carol, most favorite portion of your still life objects are their chunky edges or handles. In this case the handle of the cup. Very nice. With very few brush strokes. Good Job!
Love this! You are amazing!
Beautiful!! Major amazing reflections..Sweet!
As far as the last post... no one would ever think you are full of yourself. We all know you have a good sense of humor:) That was also am wonderful painting! You go girl!
