"Escaping" - SOLD

Check out the progress on the studio today.
Today I got the sweetest email from one Judie Stang. Judie teaches at Blue Valley Northwest High School in Overland Park, Kansas. Recently a Drawing 1 class she was subbing for did a project where they set up a bunch of colorful fruit and colored paper similar to what I do and, using pastel, drew a whole slew of square format still lifes and mounted them for all to see! I am so completely flattered by this I don't even know what to say. They did some great work - here are some photos:

What fun for the kids! And I love your painting. The mug is fabulous, it twinkles, and the shadow and background are so right (just love those pink bits peaking through). Wonderful.

And who will know how many of those children will continue to paint because that teacher was so inspired? I wish someone had done that for me.

I had a teacher like that in high school! It's a shame more kids don't get this inspiration today. See how much influence you have.

Love the painting, the colors are so yummy! And your story about the class is wonderful There are some talented kids in that class! I love watching the progress on your studio. When is your estimated completion date? Even with the "perfect" construction?

You ROCK!

This painting is incredible. It reminds me that I still fall into painting 'stuff'.
This is a super painting!

The warm underpainting that is peeking through in spots is lovely.

I wondered if I could ask how you store all these pieces to dry and then how you store them afterwards - if ever you have any left ;) How soon do you ship them once completed and do you varnish them? I know I'm nosy - please ignore if you'd like.

These are great paintings. I really enjoy looking at your work. Quick precise strokes with amazing outcome. I'll be back to check out new work and watch the progress of your studio. I admire your goal of a painting a day. That's great.

Wow, thanks you guys!!

To answer your questions, Veronica: I store all my small peices in about 6 leaning stacks ... on the back of a table, leaning against the wall. I pretty much leave them there until they sell or (if they're really bad) I throw them away. I ship them when the auction is over, 7 days after I paint them usually. No, I don't varnish - every time I open a container of varnish I feel like I've killed 100 brain cells from the fumes alone, so I just don't do it. : )

Carol!

"Escaping" is a good example of clever composition. I love that the stem is literally stretching out of the shot. How unique!

The little highlight on the mug's handle makes it 'pop'.

Regarding the children's artwork. I love the look of the class' still lifes all lined up together.

So neat looking!

Thanks for sharing!
