"Circumstances" and a request - SOLD

Yellow tomatoes are freakin' hard to paint. For me it's because since they're yellow I think they're very light in value, but really they're not. It's taking me a little while to get back into the swing of still lifes after such intensive landscape painting. Please forgive my complaining.

And please forgive this off-topic request: I co-wrote a book called "No One's the Bitch: A Ten-Step Plan for Mothers and Stepmothers." It's about how my husband's ex and I have become friends and how we think it's the best thing we could have done for the kids - and how you can do it too! It's being published and will be on bookshelves in time for Mother's Day. Today we got a note from the Washington Post (wow!) saying they would like to cover the book but would first like to find a similar mother/stepmother team (on friendly terms) in the DC area to tie everything together. If you or anyone you know fits this profile, please please please let us know. Here is the book website. Thank you!

Your book sounds very exciting! Good for you - nice to such good news about relationships. All too rare in our upside down world.
Nice painting!

Oh my goodness ... first you are one of the most talented artists that I have ever seen and now ... you are also a published author! Are you even 30 yet? You go girl! WOW!

I love the "monochromatic with a splash of color" scheme here. And the softness of the fabric. A beautiful painting. And I know what you mean about yellow things!

Congratulations, Carol! You are a rare and talented woman, indeed! My stepfather and father became good friends for the sake of the kids, but both have since passed away. They were both generous-hearted and fun-loving--like you!

I was tickled to see the subject matter when I opened this ;)
Great reflections and value changes on the pitcher. Love the white.
Kudos on the book, too. I have read the other blog and I think your spirt of generosity will always serve you well. {{{{Carol}}}}

Oh, yeah! You are back to your still lifes! They are magical! This is one of my favorites! My artist friend Mary and I love your little works (I know! ...we're not alone) and we're looking forward to the Salado workshop in June. I recently tried painting a couple of 'Carol Marine' style still lifes and posted them on my blog. It was fun, but I like yours better! You've found your niche. I'm happy for you. I still trying to find mine...

Carol's co-author Jen here. It's nice to see so many positive comments about our book! And yes, Carol is amazingly talented, but maybe... she's actually an *alien.* This is my theory anyway.... I'm lucky enough to have a house filled with her breathtaking, glowing art.

We heard back from The Washington Post again and they're looking for someone to interview from "DC, Maryland and Northern Virginia region for a potential Mother's Day story." (A wider area....) Thanks in advance for any leads!

Cheers,
Jen

Carol!

First off, amazing news about your new book! I hope it does well for you and your husband's ex.

Secondly, yellow tomatoes rule! They're lower in acid and are softer in texture (than red tomatoes). They melt-in-your-mouth practically!

I like the colors used here. Lots of soft, warm tones. The slickness of the pitcher was the first thing I noticed next to the vibrant tomatoes themselves.

My only complaint? I would've loved to have seen this cropped a bit more. There is quite a bit of background/negative space. No biggie though.

Again, congrats, Carol!

I love this painting and I love the concept of your book also! A positive step in making the world a better place, especially for those who think it could not happen! Best of luck with this venture!

Carol, I love the composition. All of the negative space is dramatic! That is part of the strength of this painting! Really a stunning piece, with a great color palette.
Again, congrats on your book! I am sure that it will help a lot of people, goodness knows we need it!
