Evening Stroll at Toll Mountain

Click Here to Bid (3x5in. - GOUACHE - starts at $50)

This one is from our most recent camping adventure. Because we were outside most of the time, I was able to catch the light when it was really magical. So I've been telling myself I should get out and walk/drive around in the early/late hours here at home too. But have I done it yet? Nope.

French Slot Canyon

sold.

There were lots of scenes like this in France. And every time I walked through them I was reminded of all the slot canyons I've experienced. I love slot canyons, which may be why I love these man-made ones. Some were wide enough for a small car, and at least once I saw them sort of ricochet off the sides as they drove through.

Wallowa Farmland

Click Here to Bid (6x12in. - click image to enlarge)

This is another one of my favorites, and the last one from my trip. While we were camped at Wallowa Lake State Park we met a nice fellow who grew up in the area. He told us about a cemetery north of the nearby town of Joseph, and how it had fabulous views. It did, and it helped me discover this area, but I actually painted this one from just down the road. If you were to drive down this road and turn left at the trees, you'd get to the cemetery shortly.

Strawberry Valley

Click Here to Bid (6x12in. - click on painting to enlarge)

About the middle of our trip we stayed at a little place called Strawberry Campground for several days. It was pretty remote, at the end of a long gravel road, up in the mountains you see here. A couple of times we hiked about 2 miles up from the campground to Strawberry Lake. I did a painting there, but I think I'd like to do it over before posting.

One day I drove down into the valley (just south of Prairie City). I did a few paintings from the side of the road, including this one. At one point a car stopped beside me and an elderly woman stuck her head out and suggested I come back later to paint Strawberry Mountain when there was snow on it. Yep.

End of the Day, Almost Home & Summer in Germany - SOLD

Today I posted a new challenge to Daily Paintworks. It is the German Landscape Challenge, and it's what gave me the idea to start the whole thing in the first place. But let me tell you a little about these locations. This first one is just down the road from my husband's mother's house. Almost every day I would walk towards town looking for something to paint. And in the afternoon I would be trudging back up the hill, almost to the house and look back at this scene. Every time I would think, if this weren't such a busy road, and if I weren't so hungry, I would love to paint this. And I finally did - from a photo.

This is a scene from a hike we took, up a mountain, to a restaurant at the top, which I've mentioned before. The only way to access the restaurant is to hike or bike this trail. It took about 2 hours to hike it. Would this kind of thing survive in America?!

"Country Driveway" - SOLD

Recently I visited my folks in the Texas Hill Country and painted a scene looking down the driveway that I saw half a billion times growing up. So now I have to figure out whether I like this so much because it works, or because ... I'm sentimentally attached.
