Midnight Snack

Click Here to Bid - 6x6in. - oil on panel

These cookies jumped out at me at the grocery store - literally grabbed my arm. Rude I say, but of course I bought them anyway, and set up this little scene. I used my softer, zoomable light to give it a sort of middle of the night indulgent kind of feel. I won't tell you what happened to the cookies afterwards.

Just a Kid

Click Here to Bid (7x5in. - Oil - starts at $100)

When I was little my parents kept a few goats and we drank exclusively goat milk. One day we ran out and had to drink cows milk from the store. We thought it was disgusting! But we got used to it and when we had goats milk again we didn't like it anymore. Or at least, that's how I remember it. What's funny is that when I get together with my siblings, our memories never line up.

The reference photo for this was taken by my friend Bren before she passed. On one of our last visits we each went through the other's files and borrowed the photos we liked. Every time I paint one is a way for me to reconnect with her.

Milk in Dots on Dots

One more time with the milk and the polka-dots. My husband's comment about this painting? "So ... you had to paint those circles two times? Once on the fabric and again in the painting?" Ha.

I don't usually do this, but my friend Patti is teaching a workshop in Tuscany in September and she has a couple more spots available. She is a great painter and a really fun person, so I know anyone signing up is going to have a fabulous time! Take a look, and consider this adventure in Italy! Heck, I wish I could go.

Don't Spill Your Milk

I just couldn't help painting this cup again. See, I had this vision when I bought it. I was going to paint this cup with milk in it and it was going to be "awesome." I guess there was so much anticipation, doing it once just wasn't enough. So here it is again.

Vintage Milk

This is my example painting for this week's Daily Paintworks Challenge - The Polka-Dot Challenge! This is my favorite recent find on Ebay. Doesn't it remind you of the requisite glass of milk we all drank as kids with dinner?

NEW ARTBYTE: I just put out a new online lesson. This one's on proportion. It is called "Getting Proportions Right" and if you're interested you'll find it in the DPW ArtByte Store.

Strawberries and Milk

I did some work last year for Chinet, the paper plate company. I wasn't able to say much about it at the time, but I put the 4 paintings I did for them down below. I painted food, on paper plates (they added the edges of the plates around the food in photoshop). It was interesting. One of the things I painted was a fruit salad. We went around and around before hand about how it should look, and I finally cut the strawberries and they looked so cool! Anyway ... so I cut them for this painting and ... that's why? heh heh
