On Top of it All

Here's another little scene from my summer paddleboarding adventures on Montana lakes. One of my friends has a daughter in her 20's, and she went with us one day. She likened my wanting to photograph these flowers to that of bird watching. From that I got the message that I am "old." Or at least she thinks so. Haha. I'll take it.

Pink Pedestal

I remember the day I discovered these were growing wild in Montana lakes. I was out kayaking with friends and we just happened upon them. No one could understand why I was so excited. "They're just flowers, Carol." I couldn't wait to go back with my camera.

In Between Pads

I thought I might be too late to catch the flowers the last time I went to the lake this summer. And at first it seemed like they were all gone. But I found hidden pockets of these cuties!

I have a kayak, but I got addicted to paddleboarding this summer. It has the added benefit of making it easier to get good photos of the water lilies.

Remembering summer with this one, and the trips I took with my kayaking buddy. Already looking forward to next year!

Between Pads

I did this one a while ago and entered it into a local show. I don't normally frame my work, but because it was going in a show I started looking around for a floating frame, and I wanted it to be nice. I finally found the perfect one online but it was going to cost well over $100 for this little painting. My husband said - no way, I'll make you one.

So we went to the fancy wood store and found this gorgeous piece of sycamore, and he made a frame with the exact dimensions as the one online. He put a simple, non-glossy finish on it, and I think it compliments the painting perfectly.

Gotta love a handy hubby!
