And Besides, a Cherry

These reflective still lifes (sitting on a piece of glass) have always been a challenge for me. My brain wants to tell me things that aren't necessarily true. The trick is to think of everything as shapes and colors rather than "cups," and "reflections of cups." Being able to take off my glasses and see it all fuzzy helps so much!

These wide paintings never look good here, so please click the image to see it larger. I was going for an unfinished look. I also used my knife a bit, so there's more texture than usual. I'm quite happy with this one.

Milk in Dots on Dots

One more time with the milk and the polka-dots. My husband's comment about this painting? "So ... you had to paint those circles two times? Once on the fabric and again in the painting?" Ha.

I don't usually do this, but my friend Patti is teaching a workshop in Tuscany in September and she has a couple more spots available. She is a great painter and a really fun person, so I know anyone signing up is going to have a fabulous time! Take a look, and consider this adventure in Italy! Heck, I wish I could go.
