I would like to say my back is better, but I am still trying things. I will not give up. Meanwhile I am easing back into painting. And what do I paint after a break, when I'm feeling rusty? My comfort zone/food: apples.

Yep, apples it is. Lovely these are, too.
I had a mat like you put in the back of a pickup or garage to stand on, thick rubber. Now in this house I use a couple of the foam squares that hook together like a puzzle for a playroom floor. Double thick. It makes 100% difference and I try to take a break at minimum of every hour, but preferably 30 minutes. Standing on tile or cement is a killer to knees and back. I prefer standing for painting anyway. :-)
