A Little Extra Color
sold
Before you say, "what the ... ?" let me explain the insanity of this painting. I was working on an ArtByte about white, and I wanted to show how exaggerating the colors TOO much wouldn't work. But it did! Or at least I think so. It was quite a surprise for me how much I liked this what-not-to-do painting, actually! I think the key was definitely being true to the values. So I tailored my ArtByte a little and life went on. Lesson learned. And a good one at that.

Carol, you have a great understanding of colours and values.
This is a beautiful piece! I love the unpredictable pops of colour!
Fab!
INSPIRING work!
This is pure genius- an extremely exciting image. It will be interesting to see what happens if you continue in this vein.
I absolutely love it!!!!!
Wow - this is so COOL! If you turn it into a black and white, it still works fantastically!
I love this one!
Before I read your whole blog post I looked at the painting and said wow, that really works. And it is a happy painting. Live and learn. What a wonderful "accident"
I really like those strokes of intense opaque color!
Actually, what might have made this painting was the use of complementary contrast--contrast using complementary or near-complementary colors. There really can't be too much color, IMO, only color that isn't organized!
I really like it too. Fun and energetic.
Thanks for posting a work that's on the edge.
I've been using your new book throughout the Challenge, finding it very helpful. Simple things but not necessarily easy to do.
I think these work just beautifully!! I used to prefer the more subtle colors but am learning to appreciate all the different colors you can see when painting from life.
You did a wonderful job. It definitely works! = )
Superb !
did you make an ArtByte of this one?
waiting….
:D
Thanks everyone! : )
Mary, no I didn't, and I'm kicking myself now. The image is IN an ArtByte, but I didn't record the painting of it.
You broke some rules on this one, but for some weird reason the painting works.
There's the saying "Rules are made to be broken". I'd day you made some kind of breakthrough here. :)
hamsaveni:painting is so nice.....incredible....
It's a Painting
In the words of
my grandboy,
describing his art,
"It's a painting,
you can do anything."
And you did
in true Carol style,
and beyond reality,
love the color.
Go figure, whoops,
that's another
posting of yours.
