Little Red

sold

I've had the need recently (for a couple of reasons) to take a picture of me in my studio. Actually, I had to take a few of them and then patch them all together to get the whole scene. I always get a kick out of seeing other people in their studios so I thought I'd share it with ya'll.

I always love your cup paintings and this little touch of red is so interesting. I want your studio, lol What a great space.

Thanks you guys!

Brenda, do you mean I forgot my shoes? Ha! Only truly experienced artists can paint successfully without shoes. ; )

Full of light with a cozy place for visitors to hang out - an ideal studio!
lol about Brenda's comment, but on closer inspection it looks like you have a cushy mat to stand on - way preferable to wearing shoes. :)

I'd like to know about the lighting overhead. Your studio looks like a living room.

Mary, the lighting overhead is just 2 florescent bulbs (one warm, one cool) in a fixture (the cheaper ones flicker and buzz, so this is a more expensive one). I find that with 2 bulbs (and 8 ft. ceilings) the light is too bright with 2 bulbs, so I put some foil over the light to cut it back. : )

Loved the photo, I find Serif Panorama Plus (free download) is a very easy way of stitching together level shots (and it makes colour adjustments as it goes along). One just has to remember to allow for large overlaps.

I frequently check into your website as I admire your work greatly. Best regards from the other sde of the Atlantic, Alfee

That is a funny pic...I though u had a room for ur studio, past pic of it and ur set up...maybe, maybe not... Besides, what is a living room for anyway...living! Right? ¦>

Thanks for the tip, anonymous! My husband has promised to take a better photo soon.

D. Meyer, it's not so much a living room as an extra room in the house, off the living room. I put in the little couch so I can sit and look at my art mags/books. The last photo I posted of my studio was probably the one that burned in the fire almost 2 years ago, in Texas.

Nice to see that I'm not the only painter painting in bare feet. Love the photo(s) and thanks for the peek inside the studio.
