Work Truck

sold

This old truck is owned by a guy who thought it was "totally cool" that I painted old trucks and insisted I take a picture of his. When I saw it I thought - nah - but he was right there so I oohed and ahhed appropriately and took a few pictures for his sake. When I got it home I still wasn't inspired, so I filed it away. Yesterday I was browsing through my files again and had the sudden desire to paint it. I am happy to say I am quite pleased with the result! Luckily this guy doesn't read my blog (I hope) so he'll never know how uninspired I was originally. It's our secret!

You're so cute Carol..
Yeah that happens, when I get pictures from my relatives (who are amazingly inspired and involved in my paintings) I mostly tend to just file them away.
Mostly not to hurt their sentiment and avoid discouraging their efforts of sending them to me.
But some day I'm sure I'll use them...that enthu to paint it is what I await :)

Hola Carol, he descubierto tu blog y me he quedado fascinado por tu pintura.
Saludos

Hi Carol, I discovered your blog and I was fascinated by your painting. What a great capacity for synthesis, I love cleaning the palette and frame construction through the stroke. One of the blogs most interesting oil painting I've seen.
From now on I will follow you on your journey through art.
regards

Carol, this is fabulous. But, don't you know, there are NO secrets on the Internet? This guy will find out — and probably buy the painting.

Love the color - and how just a few strokes of paint bring forward the front of the truck - genius!

Painting is like meditation. Slowing the eye like slowing the mind. Both can be hard work.Though, abstract paint is one of my favorite but I must say terrific photos.

Oh my! You really have the talent in painting. That’s really beautiful. How long did it takes for you to paint it?

Thanks, Jelly! It took me 20 years to get to the point where I can do a small painting like this in 1-3 hours. : )
