This is my last painting from Georgia. When I wasn't painting I took lots of pictures of all kinds of things, some of which I hope to paint. : )

    You teach us so much with each painting. The simplicity of this is wonderful. Getting the values right is so hard for many of us, especially outside, with a very bright sky and reflected water, and painting with the dreaded white. The color is wonderful, of course, but the values make the painting. My favorite part is the patch of mud in the bottom left.

  7. Hi Carol,

    It looks like you were painting at the Savannah Wildlife Refuge. The description of the alligators on each side is what makes me think of this location.
    Each spring, it's alligator mating season and it gets a little noisy out there with the gators grunting and trying to find one another. I'm always thinking I'll end up in the middle of a tryst!
    Isn't Georgia beautiful?
