If you caught the radio show this morning you now know the big news - ArtBytes on Daily Paintworks! We've been working on the idea for months and I've been absolutely dying to post about it.
ArtBytes are basically byte-size, online art tutorials. I've created 6 so far (from the content for my instructional book) and will continue to add more (posting about them here each time I do). Eventually we'll have lots of ArtBytes by other artist/teachers, but first we want to work out all the kinks. By the way, if you notice any of these kinks, please let us know.
Each ArtByte contains text, images, links and (often) video. They are full of great information, but not so long you'll get bored. Once you buy an ArtByte it is yours forever. Take a look in the ArtByte store to see what's available now. Please let me know what you think!

I admire you more after reading your "ArtBytes"! I am doing the same thing as you did many years ago--painitng during my baby's napping...but I feel lucky than you because I have your DPW to help me selling paintings as well. What a great "short cut" for the painters like me now! Many thanks to you and David! Keep the great works! Good luck!
I wonder if ArtBytes is how to translate from English into Portuguese. Please reply. Grateful.
Thanks for the encouragement and positive reviews you guys!!
As for translating to Portuguese - unfortunately we are not set up to do that at this point. Sorry about that.
Just read your ArtByte on daily painting. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Just the inspiration I needed.
The art bytes are done very well. Full of information, and, clearly written. Congratulations they are super. A big thank you to you and David, and Jennifer your generosity with your knowledge is truly amazing.
What, no baby?! That's okay - great idea. It is burning a hole in my wallet already but unfortunately I'm at work.
Carol, I have always admired your work on Painting A Day. You are truly an inspiration, thank you for sharing.
All the best to you,
Joan
I commented on FB but wanted to also say here that I love the ArtBytes idea. For someone new to art or more experienced a valuable way to learn or refresh skills. Love also that you can get to know an artist and how they do their work. Look forward to seeing this grow. I also really like that they are capsulized into little NUGGETS of goodness! Already got "Value" and will get another after I return from a workshop. Way to go Marines!
I am blown away with how great a job you you guys have done - seriously good - very professional, easy to navigate, packed with information, and the videos are great along with the photos, and links. I can't believe what a great price these are too for the amount of information you have in each of these!
Awesome! Awesome! Awesome! Awesome! and.... Awesome!
What a fantastic idea, I can hardly wait and thanks so much to both of you!
Congratulations on the birth of your new baby, guys! ArtBytes is a brilliant child. A prodigy!
Thankyouthankyouthankyou!
Carol, like many I've been viewing your art for a long time. I love your art, truly I do. But I have noticed in the last month or so that your work seems more rushed. Hope you don't take this badly and sorry if it sounds insulting, I just really see a departure from previous work of yours.
I still look forward to seeing what you do everyday, thanks for your beauty!
I am thrilled to have these and they come at a time when I have begun teaching and have so been wishing I had a demo of your value exercises as I work with this little dollar store Piggie.
I grabbed the value demo and the color saturation demo.
Brilliant!!!
xoxo
Hi Carol,
Thank you so much for this. I am terrified of my studio! I use my kids, the house, the yard, the dogs, anything as an excuse not to paint. But all I've ever wanted is to be an artist. Ack! It sounds so dumb when I tell anyone - and sounds dumb to me too - but I think you understand how depressing this is.
I'm newly inspired to take small steps every day (well, almost!). I'm still scared, but I"m going to give it a go thanks to you!
I've tried to get into your workshops, but they're always sold out! This is the next best thing!
Sharon
You and your husband are creative geniuses! Love it! So inspiring!
Carol - I'm thrilled to have this opportunity to"pick your brain":) My ultimate goal is to attend one of your workshops. Art Bytes is just thing I need to tide me over until I can get there. The price is right and the timing is perfect. I'm so inspired by your style, your work and your advice. I committed to daily painting as my new year's resolution and I have already seen great improvement in my work and a development of a style that I really enjoy. You and your husband have made it really easy to become part of this fantastic community of art bloggers. I have learned so much from so many. Thank you for the inspiration!!

I love seeing your painting everyday. I have learned so many things from your work (simplify, value, composi-tion...) THANK YOU for artbytes. Enjoyed your "story" and can't wait to use your value instruction in my fabric art.
Carol & David, I am so excited about my latest purchases of ArtBytes! They are full of information for all levels-something new to learn in each. I will be looking forward to seeing more of your ArtBytes in the future. Thanks so much for sharing...love the videos!
Wow, Carol & David. Awesome! Brilliant! Wonderful! Am so happy you created ArtBytes. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!
Carol - I am a newer artist and your advice really hit home - if you only draw/paint once a week at your lesson, you forget by the next week - how true. I read an interview once where a successful musician was asked the best advice his parents gave and he said - "I had to earn a lesson by practicing - my parents would only pay for my next lesson if I practiced." Your advice along with this has truly inspired me to draw/paint every day. Thank you.
Carol---is this an ArtByte in utero?

Thank you Carol! I'm learning so much from your ArtBytes and book. One glitch: The tutorial wouldn't open on the mobil friendly page using my smart phone, I had to switch to the desktop friendly page to open it. Thank you again!
