Balancing Act

We got our new silverware from IKEA, and the side benefit is they make great props! They have lovely shapes, even from the end. As for my other props, I find myself getting mostly the same basic stuff again. I already have 7 different white cups and several little white plates. I had this exact glass pourer before, and of course you've already seen a few of my new bottles and jars. I have my eye out for different stuff, of course, but I seem to be able to endlessly compose with cups, plates, fruit and silverware.

I love all the shapes and colors. I bet you have the best time composing your set ups. How much time do you typically spend setting up a still life? Thank you sooo much for adding me to your list. <3
I do have a great time composing, though I didn't always. I used to feel so much pressure to get that part out of the way quickly, and began to feel guilty if it took more than 10 minutes. I thought "what's wrong with me?!" Now I routinely take 30 minutes to an hour (sometimes more) to set up each one, and without the pressure it's a lot more fun!
Carol, I agree with Pask. You made a very satisfying painting. You can paint but sometimes you don't compose. This time you did both. Love it.
To be fair I have noticed you trying harder to make interesting compositions. Sometimes you let cuteness win out over beauty. But 4 out of the last 5 have been beautiful.
Une composition acrobatique bien intéressante. Des couleurs qui jonglent bien ensemble. une peinture joyeuse en ce qui me concerne. Bravo!
Gros bisous
Balancing Act is awesome! Don't know how you do all you do:) Also it is a gift to take such ordinary objects and turn them into an interesting composition of shapes and light and dark! Yay Carol!
Love the way you painted the spoon. It pops right out at you.
