Those white bits on the outside of a peeled orange are a super challenge. This is where I concentrate on squinting to an extreme and try to suggest the "white" bits and really focus on the difference in value/color of the WHOLE image, rather than only comparing two things right next to each other. Well, I always do this, but for this kind of subject I do it more. : )

Oh yum... so so juicy! Carol... I simply love this. So fresh. And so ~alive~ Wonderful wonderful work... [as always] Hope all is good on your side of the planet. You certainly look busy [good busy tho] Best wishes from way over here Jean x
This is truly a magnificent orange painted by a master! I noticed the remarkable white spots on the orange immediately.
Great painting, wonderful grays colors, orange and complementary color background. I can remember another oranges that you painted time ago.
Spectacular! So luscious!
I love your oranges and also those chunks of orange below too...great color!
Carol, for me, the proof that you've nailed the white bits is that area in the orange just below the "navel", where the translucent orange flesh glows almost luminous between the opaque "white bits" (what is that stuff called, anyway?). Such beauty in such a simple everyday object, and you open my eyes to it every time. Again, thank you so much for sharing your work.

I love this one Carol! What a feast for the eyes and soul!
Love how the fruit glows! Beautiful paintings as always.
BEAUTIFUL light. Absolutely gorgeous.
I love the dynamism, vitality and movement in this . . . and the neon glow in the orange is gorgeous!
Beautiful translucent glow. I love how a simple subject can hold so much interest. The colors are so great - wow.
Wow - beautiful - your brush work is really something else here too (well, it always is, but there's something extra special here). . .
I think your orange has gone radioactive, what else could explain that glow? Beware getting too near!
It's beautiful, of course!
So much negative space handled so well. This is something I struggle with, so I really appreciate seeing it done so well.
Love it! The luminescence in the peeled orange is amazing.
slammin'!
The white stuff is called the 'pith'..and I'm not being snah-key ;)
Sometimes a recipe calls for grated orange zest which is the skin of the orange.
I watch Jeopardy..what can I say?
PITH! Of courthe!
*thmackth forehead*
Thankth, Mary!
