Fringe Lighting

sold

I mentioned earlier that around Christmas I went through a major artistic block. While I was in the darkest part my mom asked me if I had talked to another artist about it to maybe get some help or perspective. As I was finally working through the block I remembered my mother's question and decided to put together a collection of stories and tips from other artists (and myself) so that maybe our experiences will help other artists going through the same thing. I decided the best way to share it was in the form of an ArtByte. It's totally free, will hopefully get bigger over time as I receive more stories, and is called Collective Insight on Blocks.

Thanks for new Artbyte. It is interesting reading, and great to know that one is not alone.
May I suggest that we visit art galleries and museums when blocked? Stop trying to paint, and go and see what others have done before. Great for inspiration.

Thank you for the new ArtByte Carol. I have to admit I have less excited lately even though I keep pushing myself to paint. It is extremely hard to be excited about it when sales are rare. I try to tell myself I am using this slow time to improve my skills.

Absolutely beautiful painting, Carol. I love the glow around the flower petals. Lovely reflections in the glass and on the table.

Your painting is wonderful (as always)but your continued contribution to the artist community is amazing. Thank you for sharing so much of your knowledge and honesty with us.

Carol, I can't tell you enough how much I appreciate this article on blocks that you have published. I am "still in the middle" of a bad winter-funk-block (the only thing I can think to call it) and am hoping to see the other side of it. Thanks so much for the honesty & insights...it's somehow comforting to know that I'm not the only one that goes through this...and there IS indeed another side to it!

Hey Carol, Thank You sooo much for sharing!!! That's what makes you so special, you just tell it how it is! You have been so giving and have played a major role in inspiring my artistic journey. This will pass and You'll be back on the saddle again. Even some of the historical artists had to have breaks! Would we expect athletes to go hard at it during the entire calendar year. Painting is hard mentalphysical work And you are TEACHING on top of that? Girl, I was thinking you were some type of superwoman that didn't sleep.
