Hippo Watching

sold

I had this idea forever ago of taking the video camera and taping a scene in order to be able to pick and choose the particular still to paint. Often with a regular camera I miss the best shots because I can't shoot quick enough! So I took the video camera to the zoo when we still lived in Texas. I quickly learned the trick was to stand still! But I got some great shots in the hippo room (do you see him?). I painted this once before but it was one of the paintings I lost in the fire, so I painted it again because I really liked it.

I hear the acoustics down there in that room. Great.
I also like the idea of the video/still choose a frame.

You're really going somewhere with this!

I grabbed a whole bunch of stills from a Netflix movie recently via screenshots. Big English gardens, stopped the DVD where I liked and shift/cpmmand/4 on my Mac lets me choose what I want in the scene. Neat!
