Old Trippers

I found these when I was wandering around Eugene recently. There are ... ummm ... quite a few old VW's here. It's kind of a funky place. The front one reminds me of the one my parents had when I was a kid. We used to spend about a month every other summer touring around the US in our blue van. Great memories!

I left a few people off my list yesterday. I would like to include: Maggie Siner, Jennifer McChristian, Louis Escobedo, Patti Mollica and David Shevlino.

You remind me of great times, ours was green. My parents got it so we could go camping more.

We had the same van, Filbert. Good for 5 brothers on road trips. Now I call 'em 'death cars' because they're always pulling over with mechanical problems. I never get behind one at red lights....

Cute Carol. There must be a few old hippies in Eugene.

You did a wonderful job of capturing this, I love it. Thank you for the links to these artists, some are new to me and I love checking out artists I am not aware of. It can be intimidating sometimes, sooooo many great artists out there. Just have to keep painting no matter what, I wouldn't be this driven if it wasn't the right thing for me, right? lol

A lot of VW vans putting around Oregon? Say it isn't so. My only question would be, which state has more VW vans running around, Oregon or Washington? My money would be on Washington.

Oh, great painting, by the way. I knew if you wanted to venture away from the still life for a little while your painting genius would show through just as brightly.

When I lived in "Bluegene," it was the land of the "dead heads!" I never say so many Grateful Dead groupies anywhere since. Love your new subject matter.

I love this (and all of your) paintings. Owned a VW Bus from '72 'til it broke into pieces... Driving it was always unpredictable but, xxxx,, sooo much fun.

Oh wow a splity, lol. My grandfather used to own a bus line that took passengers around the city in Mississippi, he had some split window buses like that. My dad had a bay window bus that still had his logo on it but sadly we had to sell it. I do have one memory of it a plein air painting I did it's on my blog somewhere but very cool Carol, Awesome!!

Thanks,
Kirby
