Bell Halves

So after a week and a half off I got the itch to paint again. I waited a few more days and then ventured into my studio. I'm pretty happy with my first painting. But then I tried again today only to wipe almost everything I did! Ugh! It was so frustrating. And not exactly what I was hoping for after a break. But perhaps I should have expected it. So I won't let it deter me.

In the words of Winston Churchill, "never give up Carol. Never, never, never give up."

Your next masterpiece is right at the end of your brushes. Let it out!

Welcome back, Carol - and so soon! This is a lovely painting. You must feel so much freer now you've given yourself permission to paint or take a break, as you see fit. Thanks for sharing - I learn something every time I view your work.

Yay! I'm so glad you are back, Carole! Seeing your work in my email is such a treat! You inspire me.
I can sure understand how you would need a break after the pace you have kept up for so long. I hope you will not pressure yourself. Just paint when you feel like it.
God bless you and your family.
Happy Easter!

hey carol..i personally love this...so don't get discouraged...usually, they say, you get the most frustrated right before a big breakthrough..so my advice would be to change things up...since you're now living in one of the most gorgeous places ever...why don't you gather your gear and get your behind outside and paint..i'm sure you've read all the best books on landscape painting..carlson, for instance..that snow scene you sent looked inviting...a corner of your yard to the vastness of the landcape...lots to discover...you may have to change your format a bit more horizontally - but then again...maybe not...nothing like being out there in the _plein air!!! just something to think about...and best of luck!!susie

When you said you needed a break, I thought it would be for a year! So happy it turned out to be such a short time. I think I actually mourned when you said you were taking a break.

Glad you're back! And despite your experiences recently, your painting is amazing, as always!

Keep on keeping on,Carol. Are you friends with Dreama? If so you know that one of her strongest feelings is that you have to love what you do. Maybe some brand new creative venture is nagging at you. You never know where life will take you,

Nice design in this Carol. The red of the bell pepper adds a pop of exciting color too. You have such a unique way of arranging all the elements in your paintings and it works so well.

I know wiping a painting can be frustrating, maybe it's a sign that you are experiencing artistic growth and becoming an even better painter than you already are. Don't be discouraged, it could be a good thing.

Good for you for taking a break! I LOVE this painting. The color scheme and design are fantastic. Interestingly, this painting has a "feeling" of being HUGE. Beautiful!

You call that a break?!? You're so cute! I knew you couldn't stay away (although I admit I had a moment of anxiety at first, since your creative pursuits are one of my guilt-free addictions)!
