I call this singled out because there is just one of each thing. huh, huh?
The other day I got a delightful email from a recent kid of mine. She had taken some photos of me in class and when she got home she painted one. Her name is Christine Holzschuh, and here is me: (it's called "First Stroke")

sooo funny....Your posting, and Claudia Hammers came this morning (I only get you two) and they were next to each other in the inbox. Funny-- BOTH of them were entitled, "singled out", and whats more, I painted one a couple of days ago, and yesterday put it in my file, called,"singled out", too.
I love the painting of you... I watched James Coulter's video yesterday with this same plein air painting easel, too.....
There you go with your fabulous oranges! I 'know' Christine as a blogger friend, and she's awesome! How nice that she painted this! What a cool idea! I think someone from EVERY workshop should paint you!
This is a gem. The compositional massing is so strong. Is this stuff becoming intuitive for you? The blues are beautiful, really set off by that little orange quarter. Who knew a white plate could be so brilliantly
beautiful? Rock on!
Terrific painting! The colors are terrific, that orange pops. Very cool to have a student paint you during class. Love coming to your blog, there is always a very happy vibe when I come here:) Have a great weekend!
Love both of these paintings!
I really love the way you made that orange pop! Beautiful!
orange shade is great.thanks.
Thanks for sharing Christine's painting of you....brings me right back to the workshop which was so inspiring because of you and a fine group of dedicated artists. Nice job Christine!
What an impact you made for that kid to want to paint you. 1. She wanted to paint. . . and 2. She wanted to paint YOU!
