"Suncatcher" - SOLD

I've been playing around with the idea of bling in my still lifes. These tomatillo "leaves" lend themselves to bling with all the little fine lines. I'm also still experimenting with the Ampersand Gessoed Hardboard panels I found I still had when I temporarily ran out of canvas panels recently. Because of their smoothness, they take detail well.

Hello Caroline,

great to get your answer. Are you already "here"? O;-) I must confess I've never been to the black forest, just past the area. However, I'm sure you'll find great views on fir trees and the lakes.
I've taken over the idea with the "blings". My young student was enthusiastic and I haven't known that I do them already O;-) Yours on the leaves are great!

I think the bling adds just a bit of 'drawing" back into the picture. The fine lines help establish the airiness of the leaves. Beautiful against the white!

Forgive me if I mis-read your comment to say that you don't think your paintings have "bling". I can't imagine how anyone could miss it in your style... Looks to me a lot like underpainting peeking through and dabs of perfectly placed hilite....."bling" by your own unique hand is still bling. ;-}

The delicacy of these leaves is enchanting. This looks so cool. We don't get those here. It kind of reminds me of the "snitch" in Harry Potter ; )
