I finally got back to this spot, only to see the clouds roll in just as I was setting up! I swear, those clouds are out to get me. I ended up painting a close-up of the winding path - pink because of the crushed granite. Today it was cloudy and rainy all day, and tomorrow will most likely be more of the same. I am going a little stir crazy being cooped up inside.

Bite the bullet, Carol and get out and paint in the rain!
I love your German studies!
These are lovely little landscapes. Can you do a still life inside?
These paintings are wonderful! We surely wouldn't know that that pesky shifting light was causing you any trouble at all. It would be fun to see a still life from a makeshift set-up inside the house...
Carol--glad you liked those artists. I know about the rain thing. We are now in Alabama for 6 weeks after leaving a parched and brown San Antonio. I love the green-ness here but it gets that way with lots of rain! and clouds!
I often find myself featuring the road/paths when plein airing on cloudy days...must be that they give direction when the sun doesn't! (Wishing you sunny skies and happy trails, Carol.)
Beautiful work of late, Carol! I'm enjoying the outdoors stuff!
