I got an email recently about washing brushes. I know I've said this before, but I loooove Murphy's Oil Soap! It is quick, it smells good, it leaves brushes nice and soft, AND you can put old, dry, caked up brushes in a jar of it for 24 hours, wash them like normal, and every little last bit of paint comes off. Oh, and it's cheap and you can get it just about anywhere.

I really love all of your cherry paintings...just beautiful. I just finished a painting of cherries a few days ago...I guess it's the season! Really nice!!
I really like Murphy's soap because it isn't a solvent and can be used and transported anywhere. You don't need special ventilation and as Carol said, it is cheap. I was really surprised to find that it would soak out dried brushes too. Also, if you get a dob of oil paint on your clothes, put some of the soap on the spot and work it in. Then throw in the washer and the spot will be gone. The only colour I haven't been able to completely remove is phthalo blue, which is the ultimate stainer, but most of it will come out.
