"Color Can" - SOLD

I painted this turp can in a demo a couple of workshops ago and really enjoyed it so I thought I'd try it again. I find over and over again that metal is a hard thing to paint. I'll probably give it another go soon.

You've done it great, Carol, but as it happened with the golden mouse, if you think you have to try again, that means it's going to come out even better, can't wait to see it!

I love the colors you've used here, very nice :)

Best regards,
Carolina

Hi - Great work all round.

Metal is a pernickety thing - I'm constantly drawing and sketching sinks and teapots and kettles in my folks home. I'm half convinced it's down to the number and depth of tones you use and their contrast. The simpler the better using high contrast. Your exhibition painting of the apples trying to get in was definitely a representation of a stainless steel bowl done with minimal fuss.

It's harder to achieve that with colour of course...

Cute! My eye is drawn to the handle and its shadow. And I can see the greens reflected in the brass. Great work.

yes metal is hard to paint but you make it look so easy as you capture the cool hard surface with splashes of warms Carol. r.

I can't believe that you think metal is hard to paint. Of all the painters out there, your handling of "painting metal" surpasses all. You have a gift when it comes to capturing this task!

Just wanted you to know that I bought "Rolling Away" a couple of minutes ago. It was very much a bargain. ( I feel guilty to have paid so little.) But I also feel very fortunate to be the proud owner of some really luminous fruit!

The shadows for your turp can are lovely.

Carol, I am so glad to have found your delightful blog (via your visit to Carol Schiff's). The subtle and unexpected colors in this piece are wonderful, and I also love the lighting so that this turp can boasts such a grand shadow.
