"One Man Down" & sugar... - SOLD

Yesterday my little boy turned 4. I swear just the other day I was holding his tiny body in my arms, all 5 lbs of him. It is an amazing thing to watch him grow and change.

As promised I photographed these 2 paintings yesterday but somehow as I was transferring them from my camera to my computer ... I deleted them. So I retook them today, and here they are (ta da). Below is an 8"x16" painting for my upcoming show. I realize now that the sugar bowl is a little off. I actually have a trick for painting elipses that I recently came up with. I'll explain it in my next post as it is too late tonight ...

Carol!

The bowl of sugar looks awesome!

It doesn't look "off" to me, but artists are always critical of their own work.

I LOVE the unusual size of this painting and the overall composition is just lovely.

There's a ton of colors being snuck into the background (muted oranges and greens) which work really well here.

Good job with the highlights on the glass bowl and the shadows underneath it.

Oh, and the little red strawberry steals the show!

I love the neutral with the golden pears against it - they really pop! And the sugar bowl - I have the same one - had it in mind what shape I wanted and ended up ordering a CARTON of them from Anchor Hocking. Then I went to Walmart.... and there they were! Duh. So I've been dying to paint one but yours is so beautiful in format and composition..... I'll wait. Nice job, both, Carol. Hope the house/studio is going well!

Carol, I love the composition and color. Such immediate paint. I just finished up a sugar bowl as well, but your's looks like more fun. Happy painting

Carol-
Everyday I am amazed with your talent! I learn so much just by closely studying them. Your strokes, colors, compositions,...the list goes on. Hopefully, I will be coming to one of your workshops in TX or AZ this fall. :)
Thanks for sharing all of your great and yummy paintings!!!

I SO love how the underpainting shimmers through the green. This long tall format appeals to me also.
Um, Kelley has a case of these sugar bowls? Well, looks like I know where to get mine ;)
