"Two to Tango"

BUY NOW $80

My son hates vegetables. There must be some good reason why children hate them because they seem programmed to avoid them at all costs. He WILL tolerate raw red bell pepper, for some strange reason, so I buy it often. This time they were all incredibly perfect - as if created FOR me. I couldn't resist painting them before my son had his way.

Tomorrow the concrete is poured for the studio! Here's what they did today in preparation. Tomorrow afternoon I leave for Carmel, CA for a 3-day workshop. In case you're wondering, it wasn't on my schedule - this group had enough to fill it on their own.

I love the stems, and that gorgeous red color. As always, simply beautiful.

Hey Carol! It is great fun watching your studio being built. Thanks for sharing..great work as always. How you travel and do all these workshops baffles me, and with a young son, too. Must be your young age! Go Girl!

I love the intense saturation of these peppers, and the shadow shapes.

My MIL believes the reason children do not like veggies is because if they did, they would be apt to eat anything green that looks interesting. And there are a lot of poisonous plants out there that should not be eaten. So the aversion to veggies is a biological protection for the kids to avoid things that could be harmful to them. This is just her theory, but I think it has merit b/c as one gets older you tend to like more veggies.

Well this is great! Pepper with their periscopes up, looking for the salad. I had got a perfect red pepper yesterday with one of these big stems. So I'll use this as like a class demo to guide me. I'd sure like to see some out side photos of the landscape of Carmel.

Carol, That is great that you will be out in Carmel. Is this your first workshop in No. CA? If you you haven't been to Carmel before, you will love it! Have a great time!! We live about 1 and 1/2 hours away, wish that I could drop by and say, "hi".

It's so fun to follow your paintings on your blog (they're great!) and the process of building a new studio! I have added your link to my blog, hope you don't mind. Enjoy Carmel!

Hi Carol,
My 3.5 year old daughter, too hates veggies (gasp) except carrots. I had to giggle when I read your blog post.

Love, love your work!
Best, Lisa

Carol,
I love your work. What a luxury to get to paint every day...that's likely why you've found such success. I would love to have the time to develop this discipline.
I must ask, you look so successful, you are featured in galleries across the country, how do you market yourself? There seems to be a great chasm between the artist who sits at home and creates and the one who runs a successful business of art. How have you managed to to close the rift? Where did you start and how long has it taken to get to where you are now?
