"Spiky Thing"

BUY NOW $90

In painting this a second time (and handling it into position) it occurs to me this thing has to be protecting itself from something. I know it turns into a flower if left on the plant - quite a beautiful one. But what does it need protecting from? (more studio progress)

hmmm. perhaps he is not afraid, maybe he is just the bad guy on the block! This version does have personality, tho

love the scene of your son.

What a brave person it was (or extremely hungry) to eat the first artichoke. I guess the artichoke thought it was protecting itself from that outrage, at least!

Neat!

This looks so visually interesting and kind of dangerous at the same time!

This artichoke is not messing around and looks like it's about to strike!

Never would have thought about painting one of these myself until seeing this.

That's a wonderful artichoke. The first thing I painted after I got back from my Carol Marine workshop in Santa Fe last summer was a pair of artichokes, and I still think it's been my best example of using what I learned in class. (I'm still using it, but you know, you make it your own after a while.)

Anyway, bravo! Congrats on the new studio. Enjoy Carmel--one of my favorite spots out here on the California coast.
