"Nectarine-y"

Destined for my July solo-show at the Wally Workman Gallery.

This is what I did today. I am back in the flow and feeling good. I realized after I took this picture that the reflection of the vase was shifted a little too much to the right so I fixed it but didn't retake the picture. You should see these nectarines up close - they are killer - best nectarines I've ever done. Thank you all again for your encouragement. I wish I had time to thank you all personally.

Well of course I went straight to eBay to bid on this one, and then came to your blog only to read it's one for the show! What a beauty! The right one is coming to my house eventually, I just know it! Glad you are back on track.

GORGEOUS! Love love love the composition. The reflections are so interesting, particularly the way the dish cuts the view of the full fruit and the shape of the upside down vase. Also like the recessed Nectarine on the right against the green vase and aqua fabric. The colors combination is fabulous. I'm sure it's absolutely stunning in person.

Carol, I just love this! The nectarines are truly beautiful, you SHOULD be happy with them. I have to tell you that I am inspired by your work...you gave me the gumption to go back and try to work more loosely...thanks for the inspiration!

Carol-- you're blog has helped me continue my painting education while I'm on an extended hiatus from painting (for happy reasons-- successful business, 2 kids and husband). I've learned so much and once I get going again, I know I'll already be a better painter just from following your blog. Thank you so much!

Walked in to the Just Looking Gallery in San Luis Obispo, CA and there they were...beautiful large Carol Marines! Beautiful pieces and what a pleasure to view them up close and personal. The pictures you post are grand, but the pieces must be seen for the glorious brushstrokes. Well done, my friend. jb

You are right to be proud of this one! Those nectarines are spectacular and those subtle reflections are great. I love the shadows on the backdrop too. This painting looked simple at a glance and then resolved into something magnificent, it keeps drawing me back again and again.

Good choice to put in your solo show. Congratulations on the show too!

Carol, I said nice things about you on my blog...and tagged you for which I do humbly apologize. You rock.

Carol, you are proving my theory about you correct.

Your work is just amazing when you do larger pieces and this painting is the proof.

Strong composition.

Nice choice of colors (love the oranges, yellows, muted greens, and tans all used together) almost reminds me of Fall.

The killer reflections on the shiny surface and the clever shadows left by the flowers on the wall make this one a winner!

Congrats!!

It's beautiful and I hope the pressure doesn't get too bad. Painting should be fun, but it can send us to tears now and then. Good luck with your upcoming show. I hope I can see it when in Austin.
