"Mismatched" - SOLD

I have nothing to show for today's work (I happened to have the above painting from a few days ago). Today ... today I spent several hours trying very hard to paint some little onions that looked so good in the store. I know I've lamented on this before but sometimes it just feels like I've forgotten how to paint, as nothing turns out and I end up wiping everything off afterwards. It never lasts for long, so I'm not terribly worried, but I did find an absurd pleasure in cutting up the difficult onions and using them in our dinner tonight.

Perhaps you're just wrung out, Carol, from teaching last week. When I used to teach I had nothing left in me for a week or two afterward. Take it easy for a day or two. We'll wait for you.
Nice painting, as are they all.

What's that quote? "When the going gets, tough, eat your prey."
Hang in there!

Punish those little devils.
It's a comfort to us mere mortals though, to see that everyone goes through that ;)
Another beautiful painting. Harmonious color galore!

Ha! Take that you little onions!

I like all the vertical elements in this painting. The tea pot spout pointing to the spoon handle is a nice touch.

Great reflection on the bottom of that fork!

Aren't those days just the worst!?! The more I paint the fewer of those days I have, but if even a little bit of time goes by I feel like I forget how to paint. I don't, but I feel like it. Your work is lovely, I'm a big fan!

At least you got to eat the onions. My still life today had a Crayola crayon that I wiped off at least five times. I only wish I could have eaten the little bugger!
Nice color in the shadow on the pink cup.

Sorry for your bad day, however this is lovely. I am quite a fan of the beautiful strokes you apply, so much information with so few; amazing!...and your highlights are placed so nicely! Hang in there as it goes...tomorrow is another day!

Alright, Carol, the painting is great, but I got the most enjoyment out of your comment on the onions! This made me laugh out loud. I bet the onions were delicious!

Sweet little painting. Thanks for sharing when things don't go just right, nice to know even you have days like that. Painting is tough, it will always be a struggle for all of us, part of what keeps pulling us back I guess.

I'm glad this one turned out. It would have been kinda' tough to eat a spoon and a teacup.

Carol, I did a post on you at www.hillcountryhouse.blogspot.com

I was brief, but referred readers to your blog - I do not have the language to describe your work adequately. Just thought you'd like to know! Ann

This is great, nice composition. Your touch will return. Friend, Regina, and I had bad painting days this past weekend, We both had "wipe offs". Maybe the stars over Texas!

THANK YOU for sharing that you have rough days, too. Many people don't understand that everyone screws up and has wipe-outs.

Here's to finding your stride shortly!!
