When you squint at this one, it really comes together. I know, I know, you shouldn't have to squint at a painting - sorry about that. This has been a mixed week.
I really like this one - I think you captured it perfectly - especially the LIGHT - and the glass container - wow - hope you are well - so enjoyed your workshop - am not doing a painting a day - but am painting more and enjoying it more - thank you again
My first thought when I saw this carnation was "Hmm... there definitely IS something to this 'series' business!" It really helps you distill your feelings about the object and 'know' it. I did squint, and I see what you mean, but I think backing up would have the same effect, so... great! Each one is better than the last, but they're all wonderful. Thanks for letting us get inside your head as you proceed with this series. Never saw carnations as appealing as I do now!
Carol, I know what you mean about squinting. I find that in some of my work as well. I'm afraid of having to tell people "you'll see how good it is if you squint." It does help to show that you've captured the values though. Nice job.
Carol, Needless to say you are wonderful again...but I think you have incredible talent and creative energy and you have proved in both quality and quantity Why not take a little break. May be it is time for quantum jump.
Carol, these carnations are so beautiful, especially this one, and I didn't need to squint at all. I finally started my blog! Thank you SO much for the inspiration.

No squinting needed here. I think this is my favorite in this series. It's wonderful. I love the bit of glass in the lower right.
great quality to the light here. You really grab onto a subject and learn all about it. You're an inspiration!
