"Wounded Escape" --- SOLD

Ever seen a white eggplant? I hadn't. I had a tough time arranging it in an interesting way. At first I had white on white - even painted it - but it was boring so I wiped it off and started again. I cut it into 2 peices, but that didn't help. The inside isn't terribly interesting, and it's just about the same color as the outside, with some tiny faint seeds that are sort of beige. I ended up with this. My favorite part is the plate - how silly is that?!

The title is hilarious. Is your hubby at it again or did you chase it across the room and behead it?

"White eggplant" is an oxymoron in my little mind. When you say "eggplant", I automatically picture the color "eggplant" - almost black. So, I now get the title, "Wounded Escape". Nicely done. I have been enjoying your paintings and your wit. Do you ever have workshops in Pensacola, Florida?

I think you did a great job with it. The green in the plate and the stem, the background color. Once again you made a simple thing interesting. Barb

It's nicely rendered. I think it's looks like a Banana sucking a pacifier. You got the contrast of the stem, shadow perfect. :)

One of my favorite vegetables to cook, so versatile! not only they come in purple and white, there are green, striped and orange as well, in many different shapes too, and the white one is one of the oldest, just not very known until a few years ago.

Beautiful little painting Carol!!

I love this, and I can see how the plate is need for compositional balance, but my favorite part is definitely the planes describing the form turn of the eggplant. They seem perfect steps in color and value to do their job. :)

White eggplant is sometimes available at the food co-op I belong to in Brooklyn. I think the decision to place it on mauve is just perfect for the intuitive color association to a regular eggplant. Great color decisions overall, with the green plate picking up the green in the stem too.

Thanks you guys!

Mary - I actually came up with the title myself on this one. It's actually meant to be a little darker than everyone took it, but I can see that the painting is actually pretty silly.

Pamela- I have 2 workshops in Florida in October. So far no one's invited me to Pensacola. : )
