I am not a sappy person. That established, I have to say this reminds me of my son - almost 3 - and how he is slowly discovering things on his own and venturing further and further from my side with confidence.
Yes, these are the same two peices of cantelope from yesterday. : ) I am happy to say I am fully motivated again - the break did me good.

Nice, a different take on the same two shapes! And Carol, I've had this 'time off' conversation with quite a few artists, even artists who "paint every day", and they all have said you need 'down time', time to recharge, to do your best, so - relax! You're doing just great! You could even take (gasp!) a week off, and after the first day of feeling like you forgot how to paint, get your 'groove' right back!
Boy, you don't have to take too much time off before you bang out another corker of a painting!
I like to point out to students that this is an abstract painting even though it's recognizable as cantaloupe.
This was a lesson that was hard for me to learn as most people construe 'abstract' as Jackson Pollock-like paintings. Paint splashed on.

And three is a good age, although challenging. They're gaining independence and skills but still are so sweet, especially boys. I miss having little ones around.
