"Garlic Press" --- SOLD

Frank Gardner posted a comment on my blog yesterday asking to see something "really different" from what I usually do. I looked and looked all around my house (you've got to remember I'm tied to the house since I paint while my son naps) to find something different. I came up with my cool new garlic press and a bulb of half-used garlic. I enjoyed the angle and getting a little more detailed than usual. Thanks for the challenge, Frank!

This is great, Carol. I love green and black in a composition and the bits of yellow showing through are nice. You nailed the shiny parts of the press as well. Very impressive!

Hi Carol. You are clearly one of the strongest of the painting a day folks.

You really did a good job on that one! Love the subject, design and execution.
Half used is great. You know something has gone down.
I was worried that I may have said the wrong thing. I am glad that you took it how I hoped you would.

This is really nice, Carol. Leave it to Frank to come up with a wonderful new challenge! It reminds me of a suggestion instructor Mark Daily made: If you typically work in oils, he suggested switching to watercolor or working in 3-D for a week or two. The idea is that stepping way out of your comfort zone allows one medium to inform the other in ways you can't possibly predict. And when you return to oils, you step into a new creative space that did not exist before. If I understand Frank (and Mark) you bring a fresher energy to your work--similar to how you feel when you return from a great vacation.

Carol this is very well done. Great composition and, as usual, brushwork. You stopped painting just at the right time.

This is nice, it is good to see you do something a bit different. Still looks like yours though with all those great brush strokes. Barb

great treatment of the metal surface, nice! I officially put in my vote for at least one "wacky household item" painting per week :)
