"Frazzled" is how I feel today after not enough sleep last night and a frustrating day of painting. I did this painting yesterday and ran out of daylight to photograph it. Today I did a lot of wiping. Ugh.
I know just how you feel. Four days ago I had a great painting and I thought, "finally, I get it!" Since then, I've wiped off three attempts. Nevertheless, how fortunate we are to be so passionate about our artistic journeys. There will be more wonderful paintings.
it's always a relief when a painter i admire reveals they are only human! the great part is, with oils we CAN wipe off and start over, the only loss is the paint, and is wonderful to know that we can do better!
The rose is beautiful. Sounds like today was one of those days where you can say "At least I showed up." I really liked your last post about showing up a day after day towards the end of more consistent work. I think about that a lot.
Carol, God, I love your work! I wish I could lay it down with the freedom and expression you do. Those two white highlights – fantastic! I’ve been lurking and looking since October. You never fail to please.
The 2 roses are so interesting to see the different backgrounds. What a great learning experience for all to evaluate the differences. Thank you for providing this even when having a tough day. You always make it work. Love the rose with the blue background. Pat
I still think back to the day you had a fever and have a two year old and you did 2 paintings! OMG. I love opening up my daily painting. You nail it every time.

I'm sorry you had a bad day painting. I'm still learning but I tell myself even the bad ones are a learning experience.
