I love teaching, but the one negative thing about it for me is that I'm always itchin' to paint. Doing a demo during class just doesn't cut it - too much pressure. Today I had time to do an extra painting after class. I borrowed these persimmons from a student. I've always wanted to paint them but had never found any with attractive tops. These were perfect.
Here I am doing my demo. I hate pictures of myself, but someone asked me specifically to post one like this. So there you go.
Here are some of the student paintings. Someone left a comment on yesterday's post asking what all my crazy ideas are - just keep reading my blog and you'll see a lot of them. :)

Your after hours painting is wonderful - the colors are so good together, the turquoise against the orange persimmons - wow! And, I enjoyed the photo of your demo as well as getting to see the student work. It must be gratifying to teach a class and see your students doing so well. Keep up the good work everyone.
Do you paint your canvas in a bright, solid color before you start painting your subject?
just found your site, really inspiring, made me want to paint.

Carol, I quite like the persimmons and the Hershey t-shirt. Paula
Oh my gosh! I just commented last week that you were one of my favorite daily painters. I had no idea you were going to be in Sacramento. I would have loved the opportumnity to go down and paint with you. If you have a mailing list or email list, could you please add my name for any future workshops in the Sacramento area? Thanks ~Connie

I dunno why but I love that photo. Maybe it's your serious face but cheeky t-shirt in contrast to the clothes of the other students. Or maybe it's that you are painting on the pochade box I use.
Hi Carol, you look cute painting! Don't be shy! What's killing me is the look on the lady's face--you must be doing something totally amazing!! haha. Great shot! I'm sure that is one fun workshop....

ooooh, I love those persimmons! Gorgeous! You must be a good teacher, because it looks like your student's paintings are pretty great too!
