If you're new to my work, I have a series of online tutorials available. I call them ArtBytes because they are bite-size tutorials, at reasonable prices. A few are free, so you can get a taste of what they're like. And if you pay for one and are disappointed, we have a money-back guarantee. Thanks for checking them out. : )
Oh! I love this one. Hope all is well. Your ArtBytes are super.

ReplyDeleteHi Carol, I’m reading your book (Again) - I teach painting and am doing a term on still life painting. I have been teaching for about 15years now….and have always used your book and daily painting as a guide for getting people into still life painting. Anyway, reading the book makes me feel nostalgic - I don’t know if daily painting is still a thing, but your book brings it all back. I might try uploading on DPW for a term and see if I can get back into the groove. Back in 2009 I was getting into it, and even selling on eBay, but a friend said they were too good to sell cheap….so I got framed up, approached galleries….yes they sold eventually, but there was something so exciting about the dp/blog/eBay thing….and I sort of lost that. Anyway, I’m not sure if I ever contacted you before….but I just wanted to say thanks for your work and your book…..you have been a great inspiration over the years, I hope you are well and I’m so pleased to see you are still going!
ReplyDeleteHi Carol - I left a message the other day but not sure if it went through? - just checking. BTW do you still recommend blogging in 2025?
ReplyDeleteHi Ed and thank you! I just googled you and found your work. It's really lovely!! In a perfect world, us artists would easily make a living with our work. But it's hard. My experience is that selling in a gallery generally fetches more money per painting, but less often. Also they take half off the top, AND we're on the hook for framing and all that. And like you said, there's something exciting/satisfying about selling direct to the buyer. Which is why I've mostly stuck with selling online. To answer your question, no, I don't think blogging is a priority anymore. I keep mine because a handful of people still look, it doesn't take long to do, and it's just a part of my routine. I think posting on social media is far more important. And having a newsletter. I wish you the absolute best!
