First Date - SOLD

I spotted these pretty, yellow carnations at the grocery store and couldn't pass them up. I tried and tried to make it work with just one ... like a portrait. But there was so little contrast and it just wasn't happening, so I pulled in some supporting actors. I'm really happy with it.

  1. Perfect supporting actors! It's great to hear your thought process on how you build your compositions.

  15. I like how you didn't go so detailed with the flowers. You can totally tell it's a flower but it isn't as exact as a lot of artists make it..

    Really love this painting!

  17. I'm in a workshop today and we are all painting flowers...sighing, whining...someone mentioned that she had just discovered your blog and thought you were amazing...I come home and see your post and you make painting flowers look effortless...but it's not.
