"Demo Apples" & "Self Portrait" --- SOLD

It always takes me a couple of days to recover from a workshop, but I'm back now. Above is my demo peice from the first day. Below is my demo from the third day - a self-portrait. I was completely out of my comfort zone on this one, but I'm pleased with how it turned out. There was even a little live auction afterwards and I ended up selling it - a painting of ME - crazy!

Justin Clayton and Qiang Huang showed up on the last day of the workshop, fellow dailypaintworks painters. They are pictured here below, along with Karin and I.

  1. The brushstrokes on the self-portrait look so fresh and spontaneous--not at all as if you stepped out of your comfort zone. Lovely!
Thanks for sharing, I hope you had a grand time at the workshop--I'm sure your students did.

  2. lovely pieces...both of them..

I have this broken color, this looseness down with landscapes...but I think its even more special when done effectively with portraits.

    very nicely done!!!

  3. You are certainly an inspiration. Love your work. I have just begun "A Painting A Day" (well, Monday to Friday) and blogging on the recommendation of a friend and I am loving it. I live in Alberta and on checking the Red Deer College Summer Series was interested in the workshop you'll be offering, but unfortunately am not available the week you're there...any chance of a demo video at some point?

Would love a step by step photo series of how you progress through a painting. Even one would do!

  6. Hi Carol. Thanks for putting on a wonderful workshop. Hope it wasn't stressful. :) All your demos were spot on and just what I was hoping to watch. I gained some insights and enjoyed myself. I think Karin was the one who was out bidding me on ebay. :)
