No Lean, No Fat

To me the most successful people paintings I do are the ones that turn out kind of like caricatures. Where it's not so much about the specific people as it is about ... people. That's what I shoot for. And so far this is one of my favorites. The scene is France ... can't remember which village.

I've noticed how you have mastered 'the gesture'. The position of the feet, the tilt of the head, the droop of the shoulders. One sees people like this everyday, and everywhere. They're real. And they're done so freely, with flair and abandon. And it seems you just get better at it with every painting.
