While I was in Colorado, my friend and I did a lot of driving around looking for the perfect spot. After about three days we realized - there wasn't one! So we just started painting, not wherever, but in what I would consider semi-perfect spots. What I got out of it, mostly, were notes. Notes on color and value. I also took a lot of photos. And between my notes and the photos, I will be able to do some finished pieces. Like this one, which I am quite proud of.

Anyone who has ever painted outside knows how hard it is to find a spot to paint. You have to predict what the sun and clouds are going to do, whether or not you will be hit by a car or if you can survive the intense Colorado sun. There was a group of convicts at this spot as I recall...The beauty is so intense in the fall in Colorado it is completely intimidately to even try to do it justice. So, way to go Carol. You captured the essence of this scene masterfully.

From looking at this, you HAD to be on the Poudre River-- is that true? It's beautiful!

Yes, it is. I figured we had a corner on beautiful/scenic rivers up here... Maybe not.
