Upper Creek

sold. (8x10in.)

This one is from our trip "east" this past summer, at Paulina Creek (south of Bend). I walked along it for a good ways one day by myself. Long enough that my family got worried and came looking for me! The day was mostly cloudy but eventually the sun came out and that's when I started taking pictures. I have to admit it's the light and shadows that I'm really motivated to paint in a landscape.

Before I read your words I looked at this and was drawn to the deep shadows on those dramatic rocks. I love how you see so many colours in the shadows which give them depth and interest and life. Those rocks could look almost alarming and threatening but instead you make them an integrated part of the whole warm, solid, ancient scene.
