A Chat Over Coffee

A couple of artist friends have told me lately that my people heads are too big, so I've been paying special attention to that. My worst fear is that I over-compensate and make them too small!!

"A Chat Over Coffee" yes, generally your heads have been a bit on the big side but don't sweat it - Modigliani's heads were too long, Sargent's noblemen were too tall and Freud's features were too enlarged. Yes, go ahead and make your heads smaller but you don't have to be photographically correct like Vermeer or Caravaggio - be yourself and paint what YOU see, the aberrations are part of your charm. And if only the gentlemen above were as adept at brushwork as you are.....
