Divided Attention

sold

I broke a rule with this one. Anyone who has taken my workshop will spot it immediately. And I will give the same excuse they give me in class - the plate changed as I was painting it! Can you spot it?

Is it... the specular highlights do not match the direction of the light source?

I like this one, from the bright tiny spot of orange to the mild ones, and that kind of blue, and the nice linear composition.

I hope you are going to give us the answer!

Hey, rules are made to be broken, and I think you've earned the right by now. I find this composition more attractive because of it! You've pulled this one off perfectly.

I love the wonderful warm grays as a balance to the blues in this.
Quite magical.

Whatever the 'rule' it deserves to be broken, a really engaging image.

Your whites are so beautiful, Carol. Mine are just ugly. I was looking for the "white" artbyte but don't see it. Maybe it hasn't come out yet?

Thanks everyone!!! The rule I was talking about was taking the plate (lower-right) too evenly out of the composition. The "sides" of it are the same length.

Euphemia, I haven't posted my white ArtByte yet. I am waiting on my husband to edit the video for it, but he is already working on something else for me. : ) I'm hoping he'll have both things done by the end of the month.

another of your stunning 'white' paintings was of a little cherub.
That would be a great subject to revisit ;)
