Don't Mess with my Nuts

sold

I know you'll agree when I say (write) - it was about time I painted a squirrel! We do have squirrel's here in Eugene (though no snow yet), but I actually got the photo for this one from the Morgue File (a place online with copyright free images). At first I thought maybe it was cheating, since I usually work from my own photos. But then I started spending time sifting through all the terrible photos to get to the usable ones. Let me tell you, there are A LOT of terrible ones. And I figure that sifting is work in itself. But something I enjoy doing in the evening, snuggled up on the couch with my dog.

Donna worreee- you made a jigsaw puzzle out of it and I very much doubt whether the online pic will be half as good.....

Oh, he is the sweetest! It was worth the wait, Carol! Love the energy of the brushwork, just like watching a real squirrel!

Love this guy with those brush strokes! I feel like you, a little guilty sifting thru Morgue File, but it is so nice to have a place to go without consequences. There are generous people out there! I look forward to that nite cuddle and surf time too. My nephew calls these furry rodents "squiddels"!

Hi Carol,
I love the beautiful neutral colors in your squirrel! Thanks for the tip about Morgue File. A great site that I've been using is www.paintmyphoto.ning.com ... it's specifically intended for artists. I used it for a show I had on water birds to raise money for a clean water project. I called it: "Making Ripples ... impacting lives through the art of clean water". Pretty catchy, huh? :) If you're interested, here's a link to the pieces I created using that site: http://paintmyphoto.ning.com/photo/photo/listForContributor
