Reflections in a Puddle

sold

I found this little spot when I was in the mountains in California, near Loves Falls. I love the idea of doing small, intimate landscapes - almost like an outdoor still life? Maybe that's why I like it. But it opens up a whole new venue for me!

Wonderful perfect little painting! Love the sun light and water reflections, so much with economy of brush strokes.

I like that there is no blending, Sargent advocated the use of half tones too.

This is a gem. You pack a lot of painting into 6 inches; it feels much bigger!

Oh, I love it Carol! This is the same kind of 'landscape' that I'm attracted to! I did a couple of this genre (water/reflections) in pastel that sold recently. I love your style with this image! Do more!!

The color contrast of the water and surrounding area is very strong, enticing the viewer to study the painting. This is awesome Carol; you should do more like this.

Beautifully realized - and I think the new venue is a great idea

I really like that idea! You could do a whole series on puddles!

Carol, I love the idea too. For one thing it has everything a larger landscape does. And secondly it is perfect for a small format. You should do a series of puddle paintings..

Carol, your paintings always seem so much bigger than 6" - it's a gift!
